This site was made to help you join Nostr inside 60 seconds with simple video tutorials.

Nostr is unlike any other social media you know. It is in fact a "protocol" rather than a platform which allows for a vast ecosystem of applications, well beyond social media.

For those new to Nostr it's easiest to think of it like Email.

Email uses a technology called SMTP to transmit messages from one Mailbox to another so it doesn't matter which Webmail browser you use - Gmail, Outlook, Proton, AOL - they all use this common language to ensure your messages reach their destination, regardless of what provider the recipient uses.

Nostr is a new messaging protocol which you interact with through Clients (like different Webmail browsers) to access content in different contexts. It's both extremely flexible and easy to develop on which has seen an explosion of new Apps built over the past year.

Early adopters like it because:

1. There can be no gatekeepers on Nostr
2. Your social graph is not beholden to the content moderation decisions of any platform or government
3. Your identity cannot be banned from Nostr
4. Payments are baked in with the Bitcoin Lightning network allowing anyone to monetise anything

There is great hope that this protocol will underpin a future in which decentralisation enables freedom on the internet like we haven't seen for 25+ years.
